Beekeeping For Beginners - What A Success!!

The Tri-State Beekeepers and The Oglebay Institute Environmental Center produced their second workshop for new beekeepers at the Schrader Center in Oglebay Saturday, July 17 of 2010. What a success! We hosted twenty participants, fifteen of whom were new to our group. Ralph Seward, the club secretary/treasurer tells me that all of the fifteen expressed an interest in joining the club. It is very rewarding to see that our presentation was effective in fostering that degree of interest.
In addition to me, presentations were given by Brian Roth, Steve Conlon, David Wright, Ralph Seward, and Boots and Mary Lou Campbell. Rick Johnston gave two open hive demonstrations in all of the heat. My deepest thanks go to the presenters and to the support staff of Barney Freeland, Virginia Wright, Cindy Rodak, Ricky Johnston, Kathie, Stephanie, and Adler Roth. My humble apologies go to anyone that I may have missed.
Our numbers are growing, demanding more in the way of projects and presentations, but also bringing us more talent and enthusiasm. What a wonderful year to which we look forward. Hope to see all of you at the picnic, August 19 at Grand Vue Park.
